WATER WORLDSWater - moving, shimmering, transforming - presents us with a new visual scene with every glance. In these pictures we see worlds like our own everyday reality, and worlds that depart radically from that reality. From turbulent chaos to calm undulating swells, water worlds are ever present and ever changing. As with my other abstract images , the viewer's experiences and predispositions play the dominant role in constructing a coherent and generally unique interpretation of the image. "Chelsea Girl", for example, is a true abstract. There are no objectively identifiable forms in this picture. Yet, somehow, subjective interpretation can be intuitively assigned to many forms, while others remain mysterious. Some of the unknown forms will likely be 'understood' with continued viewing, but others will no doubt remain mysterious. |
