CONSTRUCTED REALITIES

These constructed realities present varying degrees of departure from the real world. Each is the result of a conscious effort to create a new world from parts of the reality presented to the camera.

The Lost Waiter (after Magritte) combines an actual leaf and an actual waiter into an imaginary forest scene that was first presented by Rene Magritte in The Lost Jockey.

Illumination on Benefit Street is a picture of a real house (well, half of a house) on a real street with the real city (Providence, RI) that really is behind it. Its just the overall mix of what's where that has been 'adjusted' to make the composition.
